ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES
Empire Abbotsford Recycled Auto & Truck Parts was one of the first auto dismantlers in Canada to address the issue of preventing pollution and protecting the environment from the residues contained in end of life vehicles. As a result of our efforts, we have been twice presented with Environmental Achievement Awards. Empire received the City of Abbotsford's 2001 Environmental Recognition Award as one of four facilities representing the nominated B.C. Automotive Recyclers (B-CAR). Empire, along with 3 other recyclers in Abbotsford, achieved compliance to the Environmental Code of Practice one full year ahead of the city's 3 year mandatory compliance program. In 2013 Empire Abbotsford's President Neil James received the inaugural Green Leader Award from the City of Abbotsford and the Rotary Club for his work in creating the policies and procedures that were used by the BC Automotive Recyclers (B-CAR) as their basis in developing an Environmental Code of Practice that was completed in 1995. Empire is currently operating at a 98% environmental certification rating as audited by the Automotive Recyclers Environmental Association (AREA). This is the highest score yet to be achieved by any auto recycler in BC.
